In Hereford on Saturday 24th October as part of an international Day of Action on climate change, many of our local Parliamentary hopefuls will join local councilors, and local and national environmental experts to debate Herefordshire’s response to the current global climate situation.
Richard Priestley, one of the team organizing the Hereford 350 event, is excited about this chance to challenge all the main political parties on this major issue: “This is a great opportunity to explore how Herefordshire can respond constructively to the challenges of climate change. And to consider what more needs to happen right now throughout the UK!”
Everyone is welcome to this free event, which starts at Town Hall from 10.00am. From1.00pm speakers on renewable energy from as far afield as Machynlleth will explore some of the new technologies, which are already waiting in the wings for world politicians to agree vast and urgent action. Both sessions include the opportunity for questions from the floor.
While these debates take place, the Shire Hall will host a wealth of information from local groups and businesses to help us make our own carbon choices as individuals and communities.
The day will end at 3.50pm on the Shire Hall steps with massed local musicians and choirs singing a “Carbon Cutting” song written by a local musician. All are welcome to come and join in!
